  • The Crackling West-Coast Tour

They’re doing headlining shows this week in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Regina – and if you live there you should go check them out because they’re kickass.

    Hello love,

    I’m at The Hive in Burnaby, BC. Colin Stewart is mixing a song for the new album. The record is almost done. I’m excited. Colin does most of the work now, so to pass the time, I’ve just beaten the game “Punch Out” on original Nintendo from front to back. Some say that “Mr. Dream” (branded as Mike Tyson in the initial release of the game) is unbeatable. But I beat him. He doesn’t look so dreamy anymore. Good to know I still have the finger agility I had when I was 8 years old.

    I’m hoping for a September or October release. Either way, I’m thrilled and honoured that the fine fine label Arts & Crafts will be releasing the album. At the bottom of the email here I’ll post some teaser photos or videos or something. But enough about me. Speaking of which, here’s some more information about me (well, me and the wonderful band).

    SMORGASBORD
    April 16th @ St. Andrew’s-Wesley Church in Vancouver, BC. We haven’t been playing much in our home town – amping up for a big show later in the year. It’s with much enthusiasm that I’ll be performing, hosting, and curating a really excellent night for a great cause right in Vancity. SMORGASBORD is a multi-faceted, inter-disciplinary and artistically diverse community event/fundraiser for End Homelessness Now. Performing will be myself (with the Mayor on tuba??), Veda Hille, Aidan Knight, The Crackling, Charles Demers, Mike McGee, and some other special appearances. Tickets Available at Eventbrite.


    GLASTONBURY ~ SASQUATCH ~ WINNIPEG ~ END OF THE ROAD ~ ROCKY MT ~ REGINA ~ KASLO
    Well we’ve lucked out with a ridiculous run of great festivals this year, and there are more yet to be announced. Last year at Glastonbury we got to play the John Peel Stage, third largest at the festival. I even met Snoop Dog and Willie Nelson (at the same time). THIS year, we’re moving on up to the “Other Stage”, where I watched Pet Shop Boys and The Flaming Lips perform to 60,000+ people. Unbelievable. The Sasquatch lineup is also unreal this year. Both of these festivals sold out right away!

    DECEMBERISTS SHOW ANNOUNCED
    Their most recent album debuted at #1 in America. That’s crazy talk. We’re opening up for them and Rodrigo y Gabriela at Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, OR on May 29th just after Sasquatch. More crazy talk.

    ALBUM TEASERS
    A little while ago I put a teaser video up on youtube – it was from our session at The Armoury recording strings, horns and woodwinds for the new album. Just today I’ve put up a new video of me and the rest of the band doing gang vocals on a song called “Rows Of Houses” – it basically turned in to the “Colin and Kenton Show”, the case being that they were the most in sight of my poorly placed phone, and also perhaps two of the most entertaining individuals I know.
