Hello love,

Since we last wrote, the band and I have done much traveling. We went to England and played at Glastonbury, we shared stages with some of our heroes, and got to celebrate Canada Day with thousands of Brits and Canadian ex-pats at Trafalgar Square.

What’s more, we were fortunate enough to gallivant around folk festivals in Mariposa, Ottawa, Dawson City and Calgary. It’s a good life, friend. Soak it up. If ever you have the chance to see the Yukon River from atop “The Dome” above Dawson City in the midnight sun, might I suggest you grab that proverbial bull by the horns.

POLARIS

Nice, Nice, Very Nice has been shortlisted with 9 other selections for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize! This could be about the highest accolade I’ve mustered in my musical life. This prize has been compared to The Mercury Prize in the UK and seeks to find the best Canadian album of the year based entirely on artistic merit regardless of sales or genre. Must say, it’s an honour to be listed among such great bands. The winner will be announced at The Polaris Gala in Toronto on September 20th and will be broadcast on CBC3 / Sirius Satellite. Here is the entire shortlist:

The Besnard Lakes / The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night
Broken Social Scene / Forgiveness Rock Record
Caribou / Swim
Karkwa / Les Chemins De Verre
Dan Mangan / Nice, Nice, Very Nice
Owen Pallett / Heartland
Radio Radio / Belmundo Regal
The Sadies / Darker Circles
Shad / TSOL
Tegan and Sara / Sainthood

USA RELEASE
As of August 10, 2010, Nice, Nice, Very Nice will be available in America online and at retail (CD/digipack or vinyl) courtesy of Arts & Crafts. European releases are expected this Autumn.

I’m also expecting to have a new web site in the coming weeks, which fills me with all kinds of geeky thrills. Thanks for your support, it truly means the world.
